American Culture 204 Term Project
Music has come a long way since its early days, and especially within the last 30 years. The music represented in these playlists show the evolution of music from Rhythm and Blues to Grunge to the pop/rock of the 1990s. However great the difference is though, all music can be part of someone's audiotopia, as all of these songs are part of mine.

  1. Regarding Grunge:

I am citing this for #1. Some tracks that would import into my own player would be Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, Even Flow, Jeremy, and Black Hole Sun.

  2. I am citing your "Audiotopia" playlist for question 1 of Task 7. I have identified with some of the songs on this playlist since childhood, it is really enjoyable to let those songs take me back to that time period. Tracks that I would import into my own player would be Reliant K, and Four Seasons.

  3. I am citing your personal audiotopia playlist for question 1. I am also a child of the '90s and this playlist reminded me of those happy, simple times. Tracks that I would add to this playlist would be ones by boy bands like N'Sync (i.e. "Tearing Up My Heart"), Savage Garden ("I Knew I Loved You") and anything by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

  4. I used your Audiotopia playlist for question 2 because while I do find all of these songs to be Audiotopic (I also grew up hearing them on the radio), and listening to them brings me back to the past, I’ve sort of left them all there. After listening to your playlist, I plan on adding most of them to my iTunes and further exploring these 90s artists.

  5. I am citing your Audiotopia playlist for question #1. I have a few of these performers/songs on my audiotopia playlist as well, and I really just love 90s pop-rock in general. If I had to add a song or two, I think "Roll to Me" by Del Amitri would be a good addition, along with "It's All Been Done" by the Barenaked Ladies.

  6. I am citing your grunge playlist for question three of the task. This type of music does not resonate for me because it is really too hard core. Though I do like alternative music some seem to be too loud, too angry, and have too much screaming.
